Twist is the magic that holds your yarn together. Without it, your fibers would just fall apart. But getting the right amount of twist is crucial. Too much, and your yarn becomes stiff and wiry. Too little, and it’s weak and might come undone. Twist is controlled by the spinning wheel's whorl (more on that later) or by how quickly you spin the spindle.

Tip: For soft, balanced yarn, aim for just enough twist to hold your fiber together without making it feel tight or harsh. And remember, if you're plying yarn later, it can even out the twist.
